oh yeah, for the third year in a row, vote for me in the wormtown sound awards. don’t make me a hat trick loser! i’m in “best experimental act” (with, to be fair, some other good bands). also, vote for fiesel as “best hardcore band” (even though they’re not a hardcore band). do it! no delay!

so the show went exceedingly well. lots of poeple showed up, and what’s more, lots showed up with potluck food items, so we all ate real well. cool breeze went on first and really wowed everyone with a whole mess of great, funny, touching, simple songs. he says that a lot of the time when he writes songs he makes them totally ridiculously sad so he can look back when it’s done and say “oh, that’s ridiculous– it’s not that bad”. so there were a lot of “awwwww…”s from the crowd, and he didn’t mess up or anything. a really great performance. i can’t wait until he finishes his tape, it’s going to fucking rule it.

adam’s opinion was up next (one guy- named adam) and he played guitar and sang some songs pretty good. brendon massei got up after him and did some real murder ballad kind of stuff, big story arcs that go through seven songs with returning themes and everything, with a limited dynamic range, but powerful dynamics (only loud or soft, no middle ground). it was great. finishing off the night of white guys in their twenties playing acoustic guitars, i played all those songs i wrote recently about serach requests, about which i believe i have sufficiently written. this was my set: old fashioned bindle, parakeet illnesses, history of sour candy, carnival straws, GISM “endless blockades for the pussyfooter” +lyrics, plastic seagulls, LOLABRIGIDA, the smell of old record sleeves. yes, i did a GISM cover, and yes, i did the sakevi voice and everything (well, not everything– i guessed on the bridge, where he says what sounds like “we will send you the lipstick / we will send you the bomb”). i will be recording these songs, and hopefully writing more along the same lines, and when i do i’ll post the lyrics, so people searching for these things can potentially get the information they request. working title for this album is “foreign policy”.

oh yeah, thanks all my friends who came out, it made me really psyched. everyone who missed it, i’m planning another house show in a month or so maybe? maybe for right before btzt?

show!

so, in keeping with every show i’ve ever done, i’m writing all new material for thursday’s event. did i mention this already? the songs are all based on and named after for-real search requests (my favorite so far is “carnival straws” which as of this report is only half written, and will really only ever be a somewhat clever jingle). today me and jess watched “beat the devil” (which was delightful) as research for my song about gina lollabrigida.

bram stoker’s dracula (my favorite dracula movie believe it or not) was supposed to play at clark but when we all got there it had been canceled, which sucks as i had prepared a lecture.

holy shit, mike herrman told me to make vegan hot chocolate with powdered soy milk, baking cocoa and sugar, and to mix the dries before i add the hot water and holy shit, it’s stupid good. makes me feel like a fuckin aztec. incidentally, fair trade cocoa is a reality so eat shit, haters!

man, me and holmes spent some time the other day looking at search requests that got this page. examples: “we decided to play strip poker”, “where can i buy snowpants for kids”, “imaginary homeless”, “vegans in worcester” and “eating out guide to worcester”. because of this last one, we decided to make a for-real eating out guide to worcester. enjoy responsibly. i know people are going to object, so go ahead and object, and remember it is a work in progress so keep your wighat on, ok?

fujichia: NOT ARTSY-FARSTY THIS IS THE REAL SHIT. GO TO THE WEBSITE AND SEE.

oh yeah, i also put up an extremely half-assed review of archie’s pals ‘n’ gals double digest magazine #55 and i don’t know why.

fujichia: WE DON’T KNOW WHY.

so what? thursday me and nicky boom boom went to smith college to see fujichia guestbool alum (and one-week fake me) allegra mira‘s poetry reading event. review. most upsetting about the night was the realization that allegra has a friend nicole who she calls “nicky boom boom”, seemingly unaware of nicky revs’ almost-unfathomable nickname. also, playing pool in a restaurant afterwards and people playing dave matthews on the jukebox. who needs that?

friday was a beautiful day weatherwise. but i took advantage of no one being home by shutting myself up in my room all day and recording music (i want to have a cd of something new out for beantown zinetown, and i think it’s going to be a noodles inc. / jacob bird hospital split (like anyone knows what i’m talking about / cares)). that night i went out walking with james and matt zacharino and we walked around town for a good four hours not wearing jackets. i was really hoping the laundromat on highland was the 24 hour type, as i really wanted us to put all our cold wet clothes in the dryer and sit around playing cards in our underwear but no dice. instead we went back to the hawksnest, scored some dry socks and went back out fro another 2 with smscales. we played hide and go seek at wpi and i was the last one found by a margin of at least 20 minutes of crouching in a stone nook cold and alone making hoot-owl sounds, which put me in a rotten contemplative mood at the end of a great night. slept four hours and walked home. saturday i stumbled around all day, then baked cookies and ate pasta with aross, nrevs and hwilson.

oh, me and holmes finally got our acts in sync and put up a page for the upcoming fort worcester art show at clark / the wag. if you’ve got a story about fort worcester, you are urged to contribute it (using the form thing at the bottom of the page). i’d like to compile the best stories into a zine for release at the show, but we’ll see how it goes.

please don’t nobody forget about the show at my house this thursday. potluck at 7:30, music at 8:00. brendon massei, adam’s opinion, tigersaw (i think), jacob berendes, cool breeze. email for more info.

fujichia: our credibility doesn’t tuck us in at night

just checking in so no one freaks out, thinking i was killed in that great white fire (two of my friends were both recipients of this exact freak out in two incidents, from a boss and from a parent).

  • getting into more and more trouble.
  • allegra’s poetry thing is tonight at smith college, i’ll probably get into a situation and say something dumb.
  • someone has my eno cd “taking tiger mountain by strategy”, and someone else has the first ten issues of “lone wolf and cub” (which aren’t even mine to begin with) and i really want them back bad. to be fair, i still have melissa lake’s beat happening box set (after no small amount of deliberation, i think i’m not going to make cd copies, but i am going to make tape copies).

  • hey, does any webmaster know of a way to log all the search requests people make from google and so forth to get me? lately i’ve been manually trolling through the massive access log that gets assembled daily or whatever. some help would be appreciated.

sorry– that’s thursday the 27 of february- a week from this thursday.

there’s a show at my house thursday the 27th at 7:00– brendon massei, adam’s opinion, tigersaw (i think?), cool breeze, and me, all acoustic-y (if not exactly non-electric) singer songwritery stuff. the price is a passed hat for the touring saps. email me for more info. bring food if you want to get potlucky.

this morning me and cool breeze wrote and recorded a great song entitled “we live in ufos”, which, if i’m lucky, will make the cut when our man with the cinnamon tan drops his demo tape.

woke up to the snowy snow storm dropping i don’t even know how much, haven’t been able to quite get my head out of the ground since. as for the past, that’s another issue– saturday me and cool breeze went to the clark cafeteria and “spanged” our way in with a sign saying “will trade jokes for food”. the girl what swiped us in thought we were hobos: “do you guys have places that you live at?” and me and cool breeze realized that we would probably make a pretty good homeless team.

some google search requests that hit my page recently:

  • toulouse latrec jokes
  • fashion arm warmers
  • deep fried brownies
  • real name knuckles o’toole

    i’m helping people!
