quik update from swamped brainstates:

• tonite’s mystery band show is at the go go, 8pm, followed by a 1000 HOLMES DJS karaoke mash-up set that’s going to be OFF. DA CHAIN.

• had to ankle tomorrow’s beantown zinetown boston zine fair, on account of so busy and really, i won’t have any zines by tomorrow morning.

• actually, i do have some zines, copies of the new newspaper me and mickey dm have been treading on, but i only have an advance of 200 from a run of 2000, so i’m holding them for sunday, when i can give them to people i don’t know and the people slap my face.

• sunday is the start on the street fest, which i’m playing at, at like, 11am, which is kind of ideal. also i’ll be sharing a table with Jujube Buckmaster and Kit-Kat Perry. TIIIIIIIIITE.

• slight possibility of having a new comic book by sunday. SLIGHT. i don’t know what i’ll call it- i left my sketchbook with all my names in it at the store. which reminds me, DMO- i thought up some BAD NEW RAP DUDES, but they aren’t that great: LL MacPherson, Virginia Slim Thug, Fat Joan of R Kelly, Jodeci 3PO… strickly mort drucker parody-grade stuff, except one that i remember being really funny but if so why can’t i remember it?

• i can’t remember if i mentioned this already but october 1st, at BLDGXVI in providence, the first show kind of by JACOB TERRENDIBLENDES. AKA “the TERRIBLES play the music of JACOB BERENDES featuring JACOB
BERENDES singing the words part of the music”.

ok, so the update over the phone thing doesn’t work ssuper super great, but what do you want for nothing? the past week has been really good, lots of thinly-velied and sometimes veiled not at all requests from me to other people that they make dinner for me and also i stay at their house, WHICH IS COOL. that was providence. return to worcester on the saturday and immediately jumped into the big mystery band show, which ruled. there was an auction that i was the auctioneer for, to raise money for HBML, and that was splendid also– lots of people donated skills and services like cranio-sacral massages and time in a recording studio and a piggyback to anywhere, and then i fast-talked and lots of people bid in a mild frenzy, pretty ideal. as is the custom, all the bands were great and many of them had people that had never been in bands before, and you could see them realizing that their own creative instincts were valid. the audience was lots of people. the second show of the summer is this friday, at the go go, it’s gonna rip.

ssunday i hung out with my sister, my brurinlaw, and my niece. sheryl-ann, if you’re out in oak-land reading this, you’ll be pleassed i’m sure to see the photoevidence of this on the photo blog. the day was fun and the baby is great, and me and the brurinlaw talked more about the flash game idea i had, DONKEY COMMAND.

the installation thing i’m doing, the grand opening got pushed back to the 26th or 27th, which frees me up to do tons of get-ready stuff for the big start on the street streetfest this sunday, plus the boston zine fair this saturday. as it turns out, i’m playing music at the start in the street thing, which is fine but really just one more thing to stress about, but it’ll be fun, plus i’m getting paid, which is good, because i have to move out of where i’m now living at, and into a more expensive place.

me and mickey DM are meeting tomorrow to put the layout down of the new broadsheet magazine, previously called RHODODENDRON FESTIVAL, now i think to be called NEW PARIS GAZETTE, or something like that. tonight until late, finishing writing everything.

• robot finds kitten, the video game that was the sole entrant to a contest i created 10 years ago has been included as a minigame in a recent PSP release. more news here. also, RFK came preloaded on dave paquette’s mp3 player.
• peter sibley reps a paris of the eighties tshirt in the group shot for the software project he’s been working on, which (the software) is nuts, which was recently launched into outer space for some reason.

Tell one more thing, lazy magnet show tonight Riff(?), I got a Youtube ____, but it is so short, it’s really like a high cool(?) anyway who want to stay(?) back on the camera all night, not me ____ soon. listen

bone zone episode of snow ghost is up on archive.org, and airs on worcester cable access this weekend. EPIC.

the vacation is going nice and the installation is taking a nice turn towards being easier to make (aka working smarter). today and yesterday getting ready to put it all together, storming around this big empty building (which is where the show is, in a building set to be heavily renovated) with a prybar. today it dawned on me that i’m playing the installation the way i play with legos– first collect all the cool pieces, then see what happens.

bouncing around from house to house is going good, i think of myself as a pretty good guest although to tell the whole story, i think that sometimes this quality is somewhat of a detriment– i should be making people stay up late, i should be insisting that we make up funny songs and sing them into my phone, i should be asking if they have an extra pair of pajamas, and then, when they do indeed have extra pajamas, i should be wearing the pajamas, be they zebra striped, pink, both, or the other kind.

woke up on the morning of the farmer’s market and it was raining so i fell back asleep, which was awesome. lots of good folks came by the shop on saturday and then the bone zone taping was bone-nanas– it was raining out, it was steamy inside, everyone was super super sweaty. good turnout but actually a lot of conspicuous absences. you know who you are– what gives? dan wars is excused. anyway here’s a phone camera version. it sounded pretty much like that too. the whole thing went off pretty hitchless, the cops came early and we said “we’re filming an episode of a cable access tv show” and they left. or in the words of the poet, “i told them the truth and they fell for it”. afterwards an afterparty at billy blue’s which was totally weird. since the show started at 7pm, and only lasted a half hour, you kept thinking it was later than it was. so when me and purtle left at 7am, the actual time for the rest of the world was only midnight.

tomorrow this RISD silkscreen racket day one, plus i get started on this installation, which is something i’m still not sure about– i mean, it’s happening, but the particulars are still anyone’s anything. i’m at jean and scott’s now, making some crazy faces from the ML face explosion sticker set, which you can buy online, or possibly win at the AS220 print lottery, where it is listed as “FRIED TYLENOL WITH RANCH DRESSING”. scott’s sticker is coming out really good– he just got a funny idea about it but won’t tell, will only show. to quote, “let the boy boogie woogie!”.

• monday – get to providence somehow to begin working on the big as220 installation, sleep on couches but not the same couch over and over again and try to not eat at too many restaurants or buy records. mike nice, i will be taking you up on your offer of a bought dinner at houlihan’s.
• tuesday and friday – screen printing at RISD during freshman orientation– any risd students out there? come say hi! this is a good gig i get every year despite not being an alumnus and being not especially skilled at screenprinting.
• saturday- mystery band 2008 show #1 at the firehouse in worcester with apple pie contest, auction / raffle to support HBML, free food, beverages, plus 5 (?) awesome bands formed out of a hat for this very occasion, featuring lots of people that have never been in bands before. yikes!!!!!!!!
• sunday back in providence somehow
• friday the 19th installation show opens, at the new as220 “mercantile block” building. i realize now that i know almost nothing about the opening itself- MT, do you have an address, time, list of contributors handy?
• saturday the 20th – boston zine fair with mickey z, mikey t, and me, mocky b.
• sunday the 21st, start on the street craftsfair, park ave worcester!
• saturday the 27th, mystery band show #2.
• and this is not the same month, but october 1st (wednesday), i’ll be playing a show with chim up meriwether and a mess of other bands, at building 16 in providence, possibly playing with full band.

in the providence stretch i’ll be back and forth to worcester a few times to do store shit and probably a million other things i need to do. so if you’re driving to or from providence from or to worcester any time from the 7th to the 19th, please let’s conspire. and if you have a good source of scrap lumber and/or large pieces of cardboard in providence, i need you. and if you are interested in volunteering at the shoppe any w th or f, COME ON. (and) if you have a sservice or skill to donate to the auction / raffle on the 13th, let me know soon…

believe it or not, this is my vacation, and all this is on top of the usual workload. yo……….

this saturday at 6pm, bone zone is recording an episode of the snow ghost community show, at mz’s apartment. they want the apartment to be totally totally full of people, and to that end, they are offering free beer and pizza. this is going to be areally really fun and crazy. additionally, i think it’s best to treat this like a time capsule. the snow ghost community show is on the internet at archive.org, which is a serious SERIOUS forever and ever style culture protector. if you are a player in any capacity in and around worcester MA, you NEED to come to this, and be in full expression of your personality. we’re going to have a really good time this saturday, and we’re going to have an amazing time watching the video again in 5 years, 10 years, 30 years, 150 years. email me for address. no copsssssssssss, no bullies, no masters. gods only.

ok, this is a test– i need to start recording music again and messing around with music and generally being musically active. right now i have computer stuff i’ve been working on, but that’s a realm of endless tweaking. so…… ten people request songs for me to cover and i will cover them, and post them here before the end of the month. you cannot request a song that you have written, but you can request a song that i’ve never heard. i can’t promise my cover will be faithful. give me a title and a performer. i will only do this if ten people make requests, and i have ways of telling when one person is pretending to be more than one person on the internet. oh, actually, mike benedetti gets one automatically, because he’s been really helping me out lately / always. so, first nine, plus mike.
