LAZZ MINNUT
my favorite theatre troupe, the MISSOULA OBLONGATA, is returning to the area with a new play, CLAMLUMP. they will be performing it this TUESDAY at NINE PM at BUILDING 16 in the OLNEYVILLE section of PROVIDENCE across from the old PRICE RITE and next to the DUNKIN DONUTS.
I love all their plays and have had the great pleasure to work with them on a few occasions- last year i was in an experimental performance of JULIUS CAESAR that they masterminded in PHILADELPHIA. a few years back me and MIKE LESLIE were in a wonderful play of their write that was held in NORTHAMPTON MA and took place mostly in a CAR (although our section took place at a picnic). the organization, while hardly impeccable, nonetheless gets a hearty endorsement from your humble narrator. there are always good jokes, clever monologues, adequate mysteries left mysterious, and practical costumery. i have not seen the new play, CLAMLUMP, although i was contracted to write a small section of it, which will i’m sure be the dullest part and moreover i’m quite sure the math is wrong.
accompanying the M.O. for THIS SHOW ONLY is HI HAT, which is a name that i’m now using for my own performances and projects involving sound as a primary aspect that aren’t NECESSARILY playing the sort of songs that have become associated with my name (through constant repetition by me). my section of the show (the HI HAT part) may take the form of a lecture with electronic sound, or a series of songs, or one song.
since the show is of a theatrical nature, if you get there late, you’ll miss something. getting people to go to a show on time or even early is always a massive pain in the ass, but please treat this as you would any other play, and plan on being at the venue, and already inside, and settled down, by 9pm. come early and hang out. HI HAT will begin a short period after 9:01, after an overture of everyone who set their alarms for 9:01′s alarm rings. show must be over by 11. please bring $6 to donate. this is the same price as the cheapest first-run movie ticket.
oh, also, my friend and neighbor kimi will be selling slices of DELICIOUS CAKE to raise money for fixing her GRANDMOTHER’S ROOF. you will see people eating the cake, and you will want to eat the cake, so plan accordingly by bringing some cake money / grandma’s roof money. Let you eat cake!
hope to see you there!
official communique:
Deep in the hollows of the boarded up stadium, a barkeep sets his blender to pulse, a traveling salesman hawks his popcorn, and a bird with glorious plumage gores on one or two people a year, on average. Meanwhile, an unusual young person makes plans to go underground. Because if your world extends only as far as the scoreboard and the nosebleed seats, who will ever understand your sense of humor? “Clamlump”, the Missoula Oblongata’s new touring production promises the awe of misunderstanding, the privacy of laughter, and a sky dark with feathers.
The Missoula Oblongata presents Clamlump, the company’s latest full-size touring play. This one is of course complete with an original score performed live by Travis Sehorn (pebble light) and all of the puppetry, animated junk, and densely layered language that they’ve become known for.
this ruled so hard the last time this happened. not to be missed!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
The Missoula Oblongata and Puppet Uprising
present
JVLIVS CÆSAR
On March 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15th at 8pm, 5 performance companies will present a radically adapted production of William Shakespeare’s historical masterpiece, Julius Caesar. Audience members are asked to meet at the Vine Street stop on the Broad Street Subway, wearing red carnations, dressed to impress. From there you will be escorted to the secret theater, where you will be served hot spirits, an array of desserts, and the 5 acts of Julius Caesar through a mélange of performance including puppetry, installation art, dance, trapeze, and a horn section.
The Missoula Oblongata and Puppet Uprising teamed up two years ago to bring you a similarly structured performance of The Tempest and followed it up with last year’s King Lear. Every performance of both of these runs was standing room only. This year our venue is larger, and our run is longer to allow for the increasing interest, so please make your reservations early!
Dates : March 11*, 12, 13, 14, and 15**.
Meet at: Broad & Vine at 8pm, wearing a red carnation (this is a must if you want to be escorted to the secret theater).
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door, $15 for students/artists, and will be available for purchase online February 11th.
*This night is pay-what-you-can, no reservations taken.
**This night will be followed by a dance party befitting an emperor.
Featured artists this year include:
The Semi-Upright Puppet Company (NYC), Green Chair Dance Theater (Philadelphia), Puppetyranny! (Philadelphia), Nommo Theatre (Baltimore), Fence Kitchen (PA), and Jacob Berendes (Mars).

i want to stress that each act is a separate group, interpreting the act as they see fit. none of the groups are working together, nor are they allowed to communicate while in the preparatory stages. a working knowledge of the original play may be helpful but not neccessary.

as stipulated earlier, if you aren’t able to get the cd at the show, and you’re not likely to run into me in the street, the only way you’ll be able to get it from me is by sending (or back issues of “kirby collector”).
today i was shaving and trying to figure out if i got a bit of sunburn. “is there some way to know if my neck is really red?”. you know, like some sort of series of comedic questions.

start on the street was good, hanging out with purtle, hawking shit. down the road a bit was , and further down was , ashling, and . a good time, but next year for sure we form a tite pack. anyway, the day proved lucrative, which was a relief as i was hard looking all week for actual dimes to rub.
thursday from 6 – 8 there’s an art show at the RISD museum called This Is A Show About Rock n’ Roll. alee peoples has a filmmmm in the show and i’mmmmmmm in the filmmmmmmmmmmmmm eating ice cream like a pro. the show will be up through most of october. also on the movie front, last night i was grabbed to cameo in the new VIDEO VAPORIZER (tsarlos gonzalez) movie… i play a high school prinicipal addicted to rag… typecasting. the movie (“I AM A WITCH”) will most likely premiere in a restaurant basement under a milk-soaked rug at 4am.
oh hey, and this saturday and sunday it’ll be me, , and at at The North Bethesda Marriott Convention Center in Bethesda, Maryland. breathing the same air as r sikoryak, carol tyler, gahan wilson, and john porcellino!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! whose influence on this event cannot be overstated.

why has this website been down the past few days? i don’t know.
tomorrow, no, SUNDAY, i’ll be back in worcester at the stArt on the street street fair, which is on park ave all late morning into late afternoon. then bone zone is playing at the FYC, which is the store that opened where HBML was, and does things i wouldn’t, like have hardcore bands play. i will be selling t-shirts duh, but i didn’t make enough really, so i also made some stuffed animals to sell, some new designs, some tweaks on an existing design. both are pretty tite.
next week me and strange mc fang and mickey zacchilli are gonna REP at the Small Press eXpo in what, bethesda? in the MID ATLANTIC REGION. we’ll be debuting the new yokai parade magazine (not to be confused with parade magazine).
my time recently has been utilized preparing for these things, plus eating tacos, and watching JAWS, and listening to CONNIE FRANCIS, and telegraphing my punches. and every day, it’s something.
