but really the reason i wanted guestbook fun is that i wanted to tell all the goons and beauty queens and crooks and girl scouts of worcester that read the inimitable FUJICHIA online gazette about an exciting new possibility in worcester town.
which is, to wit: a new non-commercial radio station license opening up in worcester in the next few months. yup! please spread the word, because we need to work fast in order to make this happen. i am working as an organizer for prometheus radio ( ) and i’m working on organizing a little get together with y’all to discuss the possibilities, hopefully about 2 weeks from now.
write me at paulm at riseup dot net and i’ll keep you in the loop.
thanks for the town square again jacob. now i’ll go back to leaning on this lamp post here and loitering suspiciously.
[...] i set up a guestbook at paul’s subtle request, and i mention paul in the header information and paul was the first [...]
Has anyone seen the 7-11 cans of Buzz Cola, if you do, please post here. Thanks.
also, Jake, I dont know how much Worcester kids know about Boston Folk Lore figures, but Mr Butch passed away today. He was involved in a scooter accident ( he had recently bought a vespa, I know, right). Mr Butch was a great street person, complete wingut, musician, bum, hobo, tramp, punk rocker, soul man, artist, booze hound, guy who stands on the corner yelling, busker, and friend. He will be missed. There will be a memorial on Monday, the 16th of July on Harvard ave infront of Regeneration, 155 Harvard Ave. 8pm
There is a special place in heaven for stores like HBML and people like tesla and raymond scott.
thanks!
Hanging out at the hospital while my dad recovers from knee replacement surgery. The morphine drip keeps him in and out of naps, so I’m surfing the net on his blackberry with its impossibly small keyboard. Yay guestbook!
dan, i bought two cans of buzz cola, one for me, one for you, but then i realized that you can probably get it now just as easy as i can. anyway, i actually really like it– it’s a good peppery cola with a hint of allspice.
yeah, it has transcended novelty and has become my favorite soda. This always happens with limited edition food stuffs, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Sewer pudding pies, Yoo-Hoo with a hint of Banana, etc.
me and ML split a pack of the new “elvis edition” peanut butter cups that are 50% bigger and have a layer of artificial banana in them. i know that a lot of the recent reese’s experiments have been pretty bogue, but these are pretty good.
Im really into those, I’ve been saving the wrappers to make buttons out of, my line of gross food stuff packaging pins ( spam labels and cadburry cream egg foil come to mind)
Purple told me that the ltd. ed. Elvis “the King” Presley reese peanut butter cups only existed in king size, but I’ve only seen/eaten it in reggo size, in two package varieties; one with the Elvis that was really into his mom and having sex, and the other with the Elvis that was really into doing drugs and pretending he was gonna do karate on guys who did drugs. I love them just like i loved TMNT sewer pies. I haven’t been able to find Buzz Cola even though they did a promo where they turned a 7-11 into a Kwik-E-Mart with shitty Simpsons’ cutouts and new sign and uniforms and everything.
great, now i can’t find the soda anymore! why make something just to take it away?
What up, croW town? How’s the tofu sandwiches? Saw you crossing the street, looking pur playr as always, tried to holler, windows were rolled up.
pssh… windows rolled up trying to play like you have air conditioning talking on a wooden cell phone…
W/E!!!! I’m cool as a margarita bucket, you cribrot!
sigh… i know…
pertaining to your question, the sandwiches (or “assemblages” as i like to call them) are more often than not, not! after fighting to get them in the first place, now they all the time don’t have any tofu on hand when you go in. has anyone out there tried the other vietnamese spots (chandler, green island)?
I think I’m a bit late on this, but I’m just stopping by to say those 7/11 buzz colas vanished as quickly as they appeared. I couldn’t find the time to stand in that Kwik-E-Mart line that stretched all the way to supleveda blvd to get buzz colas whenever they were in stock. Why did they get rid of those Kwik-E-Marts so fast when business was up 800%? I never got a chance to try buzz cola….but I did have a squishy.
I also can only find elvis pb cups in reggo or mini size but i only just discovered them this weekend… i am truley failing my duties as a licensed snacktician….
You’re really napping on 420 cats, mang…
new shit in the 420cats queue, bragh. every day for a few at least. send them in if you’ve got them- this is out of my area of expertise.
Have you heard the R. Kelly/Usher collaboration, “Same Girl”? Did you talk about it and I missed it? I haven’t seen the video, which I’ve been told is great, but for me sometimes it’s better to not see the video for things.
i love “same girl”! especially the part where usher is listing off the girl’s attributes. in my mind it is socrates and plato:
s: do she got a kid?
p: yes.
s: love some waffle house?
p: yes, that as well.
s: do she got a beauty mark on the left side of her mouth?
p: yes, she has all the qualities of a perfect companion.
s: went to georgia tech?
p: yes, she is everything i seek in a partner
s: work for TBS?
p: yes, she is the acme of womanhood, and like all truly beautiful women, she works for TBS.
etc. etc.
also i like their game plan of finding her and singing “same girl” to her. partly because i like any song that mentions itself, but also because they say this like it’s going to put them ahead in the game– “she’s gonna look so stupid just standing there while we’re singing ‘same girl…’.”.
i haven’t seen the video either, but my understanding is that it drops an excellent bomb at the end.
i could honestly talk about r kelly for hours. beyond the kitsch barrier!
In addition to the parts you mention my other fav parts are in the third chorus where it goes “she was the apple of my eye, (blood!) and your potential wife” and the part in the beginning, before the vocals start which i didn’t even notice until the fourth time i heard the song where they whisper “Ussssshhhh”, and after the next bar, “Kellllllsssss”. I also like that they say “she’s been doubling up on us” since the song is from Double Up.
jake
did you get my email?
don’t know if it bounced.
bent
I didn’t actually say anything at the recording sesh that was disparaging about anyone. I sadsacked phenomena. And remember, when you hold your (valid, unmeanspirited)criticisms to yourself, you midwife mediocrity. Don’t get nervous on it, frond.
hey, did you get my message on your phone line?
maybe… was your message at least 3 people screaming “woooooooooooooo!!!” in a crowded area or a recipe for vegan corn muffins or a sample from a car racing movie?
Just out of curiosity, how much is the moeny coming in off the ads displayed?
As a veteran of that “slow-day: bored or depressed?” feelin’; what should I do, Jacob? Feels like tepid Earl Grey up in here (“here” being my skull).
at empty mt.:
get on yr bike & ride a long way
mt- usually my slowness is a result of not drinking enough water, not eating enough green vegetables, not getting enough exercise, being deprived of a stimulant in recent use (usually soda), not interacting with people, or just plain staying in bed too long. getting some fresh air can go a long way. also, shaving my face always makes me feel like less of a scumbag, and giving myself a haircut always makes me feel more in control of my life. build up that emotional capital, and keep reinvesting.
oh, and a really important thing is that you not feel guilty for feeling bored/depressed– all emotions are good, even boredom and depression, so long as we let them pass.
hey jake, last night little andrew and I looked at the Matthew Thurber rent club poster with 3-D glasses (which were indeed, by chance, sitting around in my kitchen)…..
and it totally rules!!!! a.p.’s reaction was: “wait, was that poster made to be seen in 3-D?”
well was it?
and …if you haven’t done it yet, try it. I assume you have 3-D glasses sitting around your house/store somewhere.
I feel you on the party v show thing…sorry to hear y’all got caught in the riptide. I’m inviting everyone to Providence though, tomorrow night, for the costumed bike parade leaving from Prospect Park at 10pm. No show, just casual chaos. The theme is, i think, “WHO KNOWS?”
So have you been working on Garbage Strike?
hey, you saved my life the other night at that show. Thank You.
you owe me. i like movies.
I had a dream last night which revealed to me the subtitle of the next Monkey Vision comic: Illnesstration.
Dropping soon. Then?
Garbage Strike.
i’ve been doing preparatory work on garbage strike (which, everyone else, is me and difficult t’s split book of drawerings). preparatory work = relearning how to draw things that exist in the world.
Hi! I can’t post messagte here…

Oh, pass it on- March 1st, looking for an awesome housemate for an awesome house. Prefers female, looking to stay for more than a year, intentional yet impractical. OK.
mt
Jacob,
Have you seen this yet?
Congratulations, uncle Jake. Toke it.
jacob. my phone fell in a bowl of water. i need your phone number. word.
whaaaatttttttt
oh, that’s just some viral ad campaign.
hey, could you tell jerkyl that me, jenny, and Mark Iemetal want to come out and get tattooed by him some time sooner than later? Also, worcester should come to boston for ringers and black rainbows play in a secret warehouse/bunker under a subway sandwich shop connected to the fenway practice spaces by kenmore square friday night.cool
Hey Jacob-
OK, the Mercantile Block show is fully go.It’s gonna open Friday, Sept 19th, which is later than I initially said, but how can that be bad? It can’t, that’s how. Any ideas for names? Any time you can be in Providence soon to stake your area? Wanna help sweep?
ALSO- this Cosby show idea is excellent, please don’t get discouraged. Once it’s all done, it deserves to be seen by many people in a fun weird setting where it will be appreciated as a profound, artful idea…hint.
Holler!
later is perfect! i’d like to have a big showing where there are people who care about ideas. where is that, exactly? oh right, the internet.
OK, for the cv…
List shows you’ve played. List the tour with Halo Perfecto…list the phone line as “performance art”. List screenprinting projects, links to your favorite part of the website, list the show in September, even though it’s in the future.

THIS picture is the first one that comes up when you type “Worcester Boys” into Google:
DSB from JAPAN at the Wheelchair, Saturday October 18th(19?th). Hijinx, 1000 paper airplanes, what?
Is this gonna end someday??
• it never ends
• you can’t win
• it’s always something
Yup, it’s up, Jacob. It’s still a skeletal version of what it will be, but check it out. And link me!

while i am loathe to not delete any piece of spam, i have to keep this one (#56), as it played a big part in the comic book i wrote and drew yesterday / today.
There was this guy see.
He wasn’t very bright and he reached his adult life without ever having learned “the facts”.
Somehow, it gets to be his wedding day.
While he is walking down the isle, his father tugs his sleeve and says,
“Son, when you get to the hotel room…Call me”
Hours later he gets to the hotel room with his beautiful blushing bride and he calls his father,
“Dad, we are the hotel, what do I do?”
“O.K. Son, listen up, take off your clothes and get in the bed, then she should take off her clothes and get in the bed, if not help her. Then either way, ah, call me”
A few moments later…
“Dad we took off our clothes and we are in the bed, what do I do?”
O.K. Son, listen up. Move real close to her and she should move real close to you, and then… Ah, call me.”
A few moments later…
“DAD! WE TOOK OFF OUR CLOTHES, GOT IN THE BED AND MOVED REAL CLOSE, WHAT DO I DO???”
“O.K. Son, Listen up, this is the most important part. Stick the long part of your body into the place where she goes to the bathroom.”
A few moments later…
“Dad, I’ve got my foot in the toilet, what do I do?”
Seriously Jacob, get on youtube and find the Brokencyde video for “freaxx”. I won’t even say anything about it except “skank, brah”.
Gee have not heard aNYTHING from you in ages. Any chanxce of a cell or land line # ? Would love to hear from you and also have you come here to visiy. {{{HUGS}}}
Hello
As a fresh fujichia.com user i only wanted to say hello to everyone else who uses this board ;-)

That Huggy Bear song you referenced is the most heartbreakingest ever. What’s it say, “I’d rather cut my eyes out than see you going out with him”?DAG!
In related news, that Silver Jews song that says, “I’d rather live in a trashcan/than see you happy with another man”…I listened to that two days ago on a back porch at a fish fry in celebration of a friend’s graduation. I think that’s how it’s made to be listened to. And yeah, someone busted out a guitar and actually played “Advice to the Graduate” perfectly. Gainesville is that kind of town. Drunk and nostalgic.
ug. i hate anything having to do with the eyes. like in that johnny cash song “sam hall” where he says “damn your eyes”… i don’t sing that song, not even to myself.
i wish i was on the backporch of a fish fry right now. did you ever see that charles addams cartoon with two white-linen-wearing ex-pats sitting on a veranda somewhere in southeast asia drinking opaque booze from tom collins glasses and one ex-pat says to the other “the flying fishes one gets used to, it’s the dawn coming up like thunder that’s driving me crackers!”? i think about that a lot.

Yeah Florida!
Jacob, you (and a few other friends and many other strangers) were nominated for the 2008 Boston Art Awards!
Now, don’t fret that “Boston Art Award” is kind of like “Turkish Booty Dance Anthology” (?!?), that’s kind of rad. Good luck and rig that shit. Oh, and I’ll have to tell you about my actual New Years Eve later. It was no hot tubs, but lots of…um public beds.
why is it every time i get A LITTLE press, sister corita kent and sol fucking lewitt have to nose in on it? sol, WE KNOW, ok?
What is bumburbia?
Jacob. I missed your birthday. So happy late birthday. I’m a pisces and I adore you.
mt
I also missed your birthday, and hope it was great, and i wanted to be a pisces when i was little.
omg jacob, I can’t believe you didn’t run home and right away write up a review of that show we were just at!

“Put a Donk on it”. Wow. What if that’s just a normal day in England? Like moon pie waxy cretins at like a made-for-tv-don’t do-ectasy-movie starring Kelly Osbourne and the supporting actors of Kids Incorporated disguised as Kids, the movie. Everyone in the Blackout Crew has herpes he got from a farm animal. Bassline.
I want to talk with you :)
Hey, I want 6 of that new zine. 1 for me and five for the store. C’mon, do it.
And hurry up and get deathly cold up there so I stop feeling like I’m missing out.
